Sysmä high school study programs
General Studies program
The general study program offers a diverse and comprehensive education that provides a strong foundation for further studies and working life.
Students can choose from a wide range of subjects, such as languages, mathematics and natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, as well as arts and practical subjects.
The general study program is suitable for students who wish to keep their options open and explore their interests before pursuing further studies. The studies emphasize independence, information retrieval, and critical thinking.
On the general studies, students complete both compulsory and elective study modules to meet the requirements of the high school syllabus, which includes a minimum of 150 credits, and to complete the matriculation examination. Sysmä High school also organizes instruction regionally in cooperation with nearby schools. Studies can be completed remotely if necessary.
Special Programs
As part of the general studies, the school also offers two specialized study programs: Päijänne-linja, which provides tools for future resilience and eSport program that enchances your playing skills. These programs are mainly carried out in the form of camps and workshops.

With support from the school’s funds, you can take part in a study trip to our partner school in Germany and attend international school film festivals.

For graduates continuing to university studies, the school offers affordable housing through its scholarship funds in Helsinki, Tampere, Lahti, and Jyväskylä.
